State of Play – Over an hour of announcements no one saw coming

This week, we had the pleasure of witnessing one of the best State of Play presentations that PlayStation has delivered in recent years. Over 60 minutes packed with brand-new announcements and updates on previously revealed titles — a rock-solid event from start to finish.

The State of Play was followed by a Silent Hill Transmission, where KONAMI, Annapurna Interactive, and Screen Burn shared more details about the highly anticipated Silent Hill: Townfall. But we’ll get to that in a moment.

Sony kicked things off with the reveal of a sequel to Kena: Bridge of Spirits. While it may not have reached massive mainstream recognition, it built a loyal enough fanbase to more than justify a continuation. Kena returns older, exploring new regions and facing fresh challenges in Kena: Scars of Kosmora, set to launch on PC and PS5 in 2026.

We also got the reveal of an online mode for Ghost of Yōtei, titled Legends, following the blueprint of Ghost of Tsushima. More content for fans looking to extend their time in that world.

There was confirmation of the PC version of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, bringing all the expected perks: unlocked framerates, ultra-wide monitor support, upscaling, and frame generation. It’s set to launch on March 19, 2026.

We also got another look at Pragmata, Capcom’s new IP that continues to spark curiosity. It arrives on April 24, 2026, with a demo already available on the PS Store.

Resident Evil Requiem made another appearance with snippets of gameplay, new cinematics, and a small reveal at the end of the trailer. Was that Sherry Birkin on screen? RE Requiem is almost in our hands, launching on February 27.

Legacy of Kain: Defiance Remastered lands on PS4 and PS5 on March 3. For those who’ve been missing the franchise, the wait is nearly over.

KOEI Tecmo teased what strongly appears to be Dead or Alive 7. The long-running fighting franchise is clearly still alive and kicking.

Remedy Entertainment unveiled a new gameplay trailer for Control Resonant and, from what was shown, it’s shaping up to be a strong experience. Movement and combat seem to maintain the quality standard the studio has steadily refined, always with narrative as a central pillar. We’re looking at an action RPG with the supernatural undertones we’ve come to associate with Alan Wake and Control. Now it’s just a matter of seeing what connections and twists will once again tie this universe together.

Crimson Moon is a new project from ProbablyMonsters. It debuted with a clearly gothic and gore-heavy aesthetic. Although it’s listed as an action RPG on Steam, the gameplay shown leans heavily into soulslike territory. The trailer did its job in grabbing attention — definitely one to keep an eye on.

Game Freak showed more of Beast of Reincarnation, and once again it makes everyone wonder how this is the same studio behind the Pokémon games. The gap in quality between the two products is enormous — borderline astronomical. Beast of Reincarnation launches on August 4.

We also got small glimpses of Rayman’s 30th Anniversary and Mina the Hollower (from the same devs as Shovel Knight). Rayman is already available, while Mina has a demo exclusively on PS5.

Krafton is developing a project I can only describe like this: what if Chicken Little and Dynasty Warriors had a crossover? Project Windless puts us in the claws of a muscular warrior rooster taking on armies, with gameplay that also echoes God of War at times. If you put it like that, it doesn’t sound like the most normal — or convincing — thing in the world. We’ll just have to wait for more details to see what it truly is.

Gameplay for Star Wars Galactic Racer was revealed and, visually speaking, it looks undeniably impressive. The real question is how it feels to play. All we know for now is that it’s targeting 2026.

007 First Light had its moment in the spotlight, but with everything shown so far, there isn’t much more to add. Now we wait for its May 27 release.

KONAMI is releasing Volume 2 of Metal Gear Solid, finally bringing Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots out of PS3 exclusivity and remastered for modern consoles.

An announcement no one saw coming — but many have been asking for — is a brand-new entry in Castlevania. Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse is the next mainline title in the decades-spanning franchise. It’s being co-developed by Evil Empire and Motion Twin, the team behind Dead Cells. Scheduled for 2026, it has all the ingredients to become something truly memorable.

A new John Wick game was announced, starring — who else? — Keanu Reeves. The trailer was purely cinematic, with no gameplay shown, but fingers crossed it delivers.

Among other announcements and updates, the final surprise came from Santa Monica Studio. Many had been wondering what would come after God of War Ragnarök. Speculation pointed toward Egyptian mythology, but instead — like a proper slap across the face — we got the news that they’re developing a remake of the original God of War trilogy. Yes, you read that right. Not just the first, second, or third — all three.

That said, don’t get too carried away. They were quick to clarify the project is still in its early stages. But you just know the wait will be worth it.

And as if that wasn’t enough, the rumors were true. A 2D prequel to God of War had been in development — and guess what? Shadowdropped. God of War: Sons of Sparta tells the story of a young Kratos, and it’s available right now.

Silent Hill Transmission – The fog lifts over Townfall

During the State of Play, KONAMI unveiled a gameplay trailer for Silent Hill: Townfall and, shortly after the event wrapped up, we got the Silent Hill Transmission, which delivered a proper deep dive into the game’s development. The title is being co-developed by KONAMI, Annapurna Interactive, and Screen Burn.

Townfall takes place in Scotland, in a fictional town called St. Amelia, set in 1996 — a location inspired by the Scottish town of St Monans.

The protagonist is Simon, and the game is played in first person, capturing the atmosphere with incredible detail. The tone conveyed through both the trailer and the gameplay shown leans heavily into isolation, anxiety, and the fear of the unknown. According to the devs, working from a first-person perspective naturally limits visibility — and that lack of visibility can often be more terrifying than anything actually on screen.

Being Silent Hill, the iconic radio had to make a return. In Townfall, it takes the form of a CRTV — essentially a small portable television (retro tech, as many would call it) — seemingly inspired by the radar system from Alien: Isolation. Through it, players can detect enemies, uncover narrative secrets, and more.

Screen Burn also emphasized how the first-person perspective enhances immersion, allowing relevant information to be delivered through in-world visual elements — like the CRTV — rather than relying on intrusive HUD overlays.

The music featured in the trailer sounds like a variation of the classic Silent Hill themes — and yes, it’s incredibly compelling.

Silent Hill: Townfall is slated for 2026, and we genuinely can’t wait.

To catch everything that was announced — including what we couldn’t cover here but absolutely deserves recognition — we’ve left the full livestreams on the page so you can watch the events in their entirety.
